Research Assistant (part time) – Woodstock Institute (Chicago)

Who: Woodstock Institute is seeking a part-time research assistant to assist Woodstock’s research team with a project studying a program which provides home modifications for people with disabilities.
Woodstock Institute is a leading nonprofit research and policy organization in the areas of equitable lending and investments; wealth creation and preservation; and safe financial products, services, and systems. Woodstock Institute works locally and nationally to create a financial system in which lower-wealth persons and communities of color can safely borrow, save, and build wealth so that they can achieve economic security and community prosperity.

What: This is a part time position (approximately 15 hours per week) located in Chicago. The Research Assistant will work with Woodstock’s research team on a large research project examining a program which provides home modifications for people with disabilities. The position will play a key role in primary data collection and interview administration.

Responsibilities include: conducting and coordinating client interviews; facilitating focus groups; recording and analyzing data; and administrative research support.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Disability Studies or a related field. This is an ideal position for someone enrolled in a Masters or graduate program. We will consider highly-qualified individuals currently completing a bachelor’s degree. 
  • Experience with and interest in working with people with disabilities. 
  • Experience conducting research interviews. 
  • Experience working with diverse populations. 
  • Attention to detail and a high level of professionalism. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English language and interpersonal communications skills. 
  • Fluency in Spanish is a major plus. 
This position may require interview work outside of normal business hours. This position begins in January and is for 15 hours per week.
