About the Position
The GIS Intern will be responsible for updating and maintaining the City's GIS applications and tools, including webmaps and other GIS data and equipment under the supervision of the Systems Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning new technologies and an interest in geospatial data analysis.

Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
- Update and maintain maps and reports using ArcGIS, CentralSquare Asset Management and other third-party software
- Collect, verify and enter GIS data from various sources
- Use updated data to create new webmaps
- Research new opportunities for existing GIS workflows and procedures
- Participate in field surverys
- Support City staff, vendors and stakeholders with technical assistance for related projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Candidates should be in school working towards a degree/certificate in Geography, Earth Studies, or similar, from an accredited college or university. Candidates should also possess the following:
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with different GIS software systems, strong knowledge of ArcGIS is preferred
- An interest in spatial analysis is preferred
- A valid Driver's License is required
Pay and Schedule
The pay range for this internship is $14.10 - $17.98 per hour. The weekly schedule is flexible based on the candidate's availability. The anticipated average hours per week is 20.
