Internship - EcoLogic Development Fund

Who: EcoLogic Development Fund

What: Our Mission: To empower rural and indigenous peoples to restore and protect tropical ecosystems. We work in Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras, in some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world.

How we work: EcoLogic builds partnerships with rural and indigenous-led organizations, and helps them identify, evaluate, and prioritize their conservation and natural resource needs. In each of our community-powered conservation projects, we support our partners in gaining access to what they need most to restore and conserve the tropical ecosystems where they live and on which they rely for basic necessities and wellbeing. This can include skills, financing, materials, access to decision-makers and experts, hands-on experience, and other forms of support.
Program areas:
  1. COMMUNITY-LED FOREST RESTORATION Reforestation, conservation, and natural regeneration.
  2. SUSTAINABLE FARMING Including agroforestry and silvopastoral activities.
  3. HEALTHY HOMES Fuel-efficient stoves and home gardens.
  4. ECONOMIC INCENTIVES FOR CONSERVATION Access to PES programs, small enterprises such as beekeeping and ecotourism 
  5. ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION Activities to promote knowledge, understanding, and action on the part of adults, youth, and children alike
  6. CAPACITY-BUILDING Workshops, learning-exchanges, forest monitoring.
Key areas:
  • Marketing  
    • UPDATED KEY MESSAGING: Help us develop/refine a powerful message to describe our organization succinctly, while moving people to become more involved. Tightening our message will help us be more effective in our marketing and fundraising efforts. 
    • VISUAL BRAND IDENTITY: Help us elevate our visual identity with visual branding guidelines / style guide that include specific colors, fonts, and other graphic design elements to use in print and digital communications materials 
    • SOCIAL MEDIA PLAN, TEMPLATES, CONTENT: Help us develop a social media strategy, develop a content calendar, templates for posts, and schedule content. 
  • Fundraising and Development
    • PROSPECT RESEARCH Help us conducting research on potential institutional funding prospects using tools such as Instrumentl and Raiser's Edge. 
    • CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP PROPOSAL/SLIDE DECK Help us create a well-structured presentation that highlights the mutual value of partnering with the organization for prospective corporations or organizations. 
    • INDIVIDUAL DONOR CAMPAIGN Help us develop appeals around key international days related to our mission, Giving Tuesday, and end of- year campaign using platforms such as Classy.org and Global Giving. 
  • Governance 
    • BOARD RECRUITMENT PLAN Help us create an actionable plan to bring on board members with the skills, experience, and commitment they need. Including:
      • Assessment of specific organizational needs mapped to specific board roles 
      • Candidate evaluation guide for prospective board members, including suggested vetting questions and timeline 
      • Marketing tools and recruitment approach    
Ideal Intern Qualifications:
  • Energetic and collaborative spirit, with the ability to work independently and be self-motivated 
  • Creative and strategic thinker 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • A genuine interest the mission of EcoLogic Development Fund 
  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred 
  • NOTE: All internship opportunities are virtual, but open to negotiation if there is strong interest in being on-site.
