Real Estate Internship - Jones Lang Lasalle

Research Assistant (part time) – Woodstock Institute (Chicago)

Who: Woodstock Institute is seeking a part-time research assistant to assist Woodstock’s research team with a project studying a program which provides home modifications for people with disabilities.
Woodstock Institute is a leading nonprofit research and policy organization in the areas of equitable lending and investments; wealth creation and preservation; and safe financial products, services, and systems. Program Manager (Part Time Opportunity) - Uptown Untied

Graduate Assistant - Office of Budget and Financial Analysis

Who: UIC Office of Budget and Financial Analysis

What: This position will provide direct support to the Budget and Financial Modeling functional team within the Office of Budget and Financial Analysis.
Primary duties of the position include:



Reporting - Run monthly data reports related to such university operations as financial aid and student fees.  Verify report accuracy and coordinate distribution to appropriate stakeholders.





Support Annual Budget Meeting Process – All university college level organizations participate in an annual budget review process to assess financial performance.  This position will provide direct administrative support to include printing/collating materials packets, assisting in reviewing of materials for accuracy, and providing direct assistance to BFA analysts in materials development.




Process Budget Allocations/MOUs – Assist Budget and Financial Modeling team analysts with the preparation of budget allocation letters, and drafting of memorandums of understanding between Campus higher administration and various university units.  Provide assistance with maintaining the MOU and commitments database to ensure accuracy of reported commitments.





Analysis – Provide direct assistance to Budget and Financial Modeling team analysts with various aspects of ad hoc financial analyses as requested.  Analysis may include such aspects of university business as tuition projection and reconciliation, operating budgets, etc.

Safety Data Fellow (for post-grads within 3 years) - US Dept. of Transportation

Who: A post-graduate research project and developmental opportunity is currently available at the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of the Secretary of Transportation. The appointment will be served within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy in the Office of Policy Development, Strategic Planning, and Performance in Washington, DC as a Safety Data Fellow (participant).
The Office of Policy Development, Strategic Planning, and Performance supports the Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy and Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy in policy matters affecting all aspects of transportation. The office provides technical expertise for the Department’s legislative, regulatory and research programs, conducts analyses and recommends policies, and serves as the Departmental focal point for initiatives related to safety across all transportation modes.

What: The appointment will be supporting the Safety Data Initiative (SDI), and the goal of the project is to develop DOT’s data-driven approach to decision making as it relates to safety issues with implications across the modes of transportation (highway, rail, air, water, and pipeline). The participant will collaborate with individuals from DOT’s operating administrations and offices under the Secretary of Transportation, such as the Office of the Chief Information Officer, to connect, understand, analyze, and visualize DOT safety databases, data sources outside of the Department, and geospatial data. The work will foster increased DOT use of data to inform programmatic and policy decisions, and further demonstrate the value of a cross-modal approach through the power of data analytics and visualization.

Journal Publishing Internship - Medical Decision Making (UIC College of Medicine)

Who: The journal Medical Decision Making [https://mdm.uic.edu/], housed in the Department of Medical Education at UIC College of Medicine, is looking to hire a student for Spring 2019.

What: Medical Decision Making, a peer-reviewed journal housed in the UIC-COM Department of Medical Education, is seeking to hire an intern to complete administrative tasks, update author and reviewer accounts, correspond with editors and reviewers, create reports through the ScholarOne Manuscripts system, and communicate with the Society for Medical Decision Making.


Working for the journal is a great opportunity for students to learn about the peer-review process, as well as the publication process of a research journal.


This paid internship requires up to 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule based on student availability. Start date of the position is January 21, 2019. End date is indefinite.

Who: The Air & Waste Management Association offers scholarships to graduate students who are pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste management, environmental management/policy/law, and sustainability.

What: The scholarships offer support for one year. Scholarships awarded annually in the following areas: air quality research and study, waste management research and study, environmental management or policy research and study, sustainability research and study. In the past, awards have ranged from $1,500-3,500.

Qualifications: Applicants must be full-time graduate students during the fellowship year. Must be pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste management, environmental management/policy/law, and/or sustainability.

Summer 2019 Metro Transit Internships - Metropolitan Council (Minneapolis, St. Paul)

Transportation & Bicycle Safety Intern - Village of Schaumburg

Who: The Village of Schaumburg employs approximately 600 employees in a variety of departments within the organization, such as police, fire, public works, engineering, finance, human resources, cultural services, community development, information technology, and transportation. Our employees work to serve the residents and strive to make Schaumburg the best community it can be. Schaumburg is a thriving community of 75,936 residents located 12 miles west of O’Hare International Airport and approximately 26 miles northwest of the City of Chicago. The community is the base of the second largest concentration of retail, office and commercial activity in the state of Illinois and recently named one of the Top Ten Best Places to Live according to Money Magazine.

What: Intern - Transportation & Bicycle Safety (summer) with an online application deadline of 01/15/2019 or until 75 applicants have successfully completed the application process.

We are hiring up to 3 summer interns. The position is looking for undergraduate students (graduate students may be considered) in the field of Political Science, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or any other closely related field. Candidates will be exposed to many different aspects of a Transportation Department (Planning, Engineering, Transit, Public Education). Exact job duties would be tailored to match desired career path and current Department Projects. Also, note that the interns will spend a lot of time outdoors (regardless of Temperature) and bicycling on bicycle facilities of varying levels of comfort. There will also be a lot of interaction with the public (all ages).

This position mainly assumes the responsibility of educating the community on bicycle safety, promoting the 90 miles of bikeways, and evaluating the bike path and bike lanes for maintenance and repairs. Additional tasks include traffic related activities such as traffic counts, traffic studies and bicycle, pedestrian, and transit related work.

The position is for the summer months from the middle of May through the middle of August and is based on a 35-hour work week that generally consists of Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Flexibility in the scheduling is required to account for staffing at other various events over the summer including some weekend and evening hours.

JOB DUTIES:
