Journal Publishing Internship - Medical Decision Making (UIC College of Medicine)

Who: The journal Medical Decision Making [https://mdm.uic.edu/], housed in the Department of Medical Education at UIC College of Medicine, is looking to hire a student for Spring 2019.

What: Medical Decision Making, a peer-reviewed journal housed in the UIC-COM Department of Medical Education, is seeking to hire an intern to complete administrative tasks, update author and reviewer accounts, correspond with editors and reviewers, create reports through the ScholarOne Manuscripts system, and communicate with the Society for Medical Decision Making.


Working for the journal is a great opportunity for students to learn about the peer-review process, as well as the publication process of a research journal.


This paid internship requires up to 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule based on student availability. Start date of the position is January 21, 2019. End date is indefinite.



Qualifications:
 An ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, eloquent, responsible, and prompt. Knowledge about the peer-review process and experience working with sensitive (or confidential) information is desired. Previous work or research experience is also preferred.
