Hourly rate: $21.41
Status: Part-Time Non-Exempt
Date: January 2023

Position Summary:
Implement data entry of property information including clerical corrections, homeowner exemptions, residents freeze exemptions, senior exemptions, ownership, and address changes, as others required. Respond and route calls to the appropriate office or department director. Communicate with the public to provide information, explain procedures, and answer a wide variety of questions in multiple tax scenarios. High level of professionalism with strong managerial, leadership, and administrative skills. Ability to communicate with a diverse population and explain complicated assessment details to the public. Able to work effectively and efficiently with people in a courteous, understanding manner.

Hours: 8:30 AM- 3:15 PM. Monday through Friday, hours will fluctuate based on demand.

Planning & Advocacy Internship - Magnificent Mile Association - Chicago

The Magnificent Mile® Association’s Planning and Advocacy Division is seeking interns to work on
various Urban Planning and Policy related projects.

Work may include:
o Assisting the Planning & Advocacy Division in updating and expanding the existing demographic, employment, and economic overview of the Magnificent Mile District.
o Assistance with the drafting and creation of brochures and information for members and the public related to public art walks for tourists, signage regulations and ordinances involved with uses of the public right-of-way.
o Researching and assisting with various initiatives including building inventories, art and public space inventories, regulations pertaining to uses of the public way, and funding sources for specific initiatives including way-finding signage and creation of gateway markers.
o Coordination of long-range physical planning proposals within the district, including open space, streetscape plans and transportation related plans.
o Creation of various charts and tables for reports and GIS maps.
o Administrative support for the various planning committees and task forces related to the Association.
o Other duties/projects as assigned.

Call for Applications: NextGenPop Undergraduate Program in Population Research

NextGenPop is an undergraduate program in population research that aims to increase the diversity of the population field and nurture the next generation of population scholars. The program includes a 2-week, in-person, on-campus summer experience and subsequent virtual components focused on research and professional development. This summer 2023, 15 undergraduate students will be hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, June 4 – 18. Participants will receive a $1,000 stipend as well as funds to cover all travel and living expenses. Classroom instruction and hands-on applications will address contemporary social and policy issues in population research, including race and income inequalities, health disparities, immigration, and family change. Graduate Research Assistant - UIC Great Cities Institute

UIC’s Great Cities Institute (GCI) seeks a Graduate Research Assistant for a
community/economic/housing evaluation project in West Garfield Park.

Tasks will include:

1. Develop relationships with persons in, or concerned with, West Garfield Park housing
including community leaders, developers, lenders, organizational staff or others who
can inform our project about the neighborhood and its interests regarding housing
development for ownership. Interview these individuals to identify opportunities,
problems and expectations.

2. Review City building permits on a monthly basis through the Chicago Data Portal to
identify new housing and identify owners, builders and property histories in West
Garfield Park.

3. Monitor current records of the City Council, Planning Commission and other City bodies
for actions affecting new housing development or activity in West Garfield Park. Also
monitor city agencies for housing policy developments.

Additional tasks will develop as the project evolves.

This is a student internship opportunity under DOT Pathways Program.
