Graduate Hourly Assistant - Environmental and Occupational Health Services, MinER Center

Who: Environmental and Occupational Health Services, MinER Center

What:The EOHS Mining Education and Research (MinER) Center is seeking a graduate student to assist with coordination of program activities. The Graduate Student will work closely with the Principal Investigators on various project implementation tasks. This is a temporary assignment for the fall semester with a possible spring semester extension.

Hours Per Week: 20 hours/week (can be up to 40 hours/week)

Rate of pay: $26.43

Tentative Start Date: ASAP


Duties:
  • Assist with organizing, setting up, and supporting conferences and webinars (both virtual and in-person). 
  • Help coordinate various time-sensitive writing projects (e.g., manuscripts, grant applications). 
  • Assist with preparation of IRB applications. 
  • Assist with preparation of presentations. Assist with management of UIC Box documents/files. 
  • Support the maintenance of the Center’s website, ensuring that content and evolving brand guidelines and standards remain current. 
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Enrolled graduate student at UIC. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, communications, public relations or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Ability to coordinate people and resources.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications required. WordPress, video production, and Google Analytics experience a plus. 
  • Skill in scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others. 
  • Superior skill in planning, organizing, and time management. 
  • Skill in oral and written communication. 
  • Knowledge of website content management preferred. 
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups.
