Grad Asst. Needed for CUPPA Communications/Urban Forum

CUPPA Urban Forum/Communication Graduate Assistant 25% (10 hours per week)


The College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs is seeking a Graduate Assistant beginning January 2022 to work with Assistant Dean for Communication Jodi White Jones and the 2022 Urban Forum team. The Graduate Assistant must be a full time CUPPA graduate student AT LEAST through May 2023 or December 2023.

 
Requirements:

• must be a full time CUPPA graduate student at least through May 2023 or December 2023.

• must demonstrate professional writing and editing skills, be able to prioritize assignments appropriately, and be self-directed.  

• photography and video experience desired.  Must be experienced in both Mac and Windows environments.  Communication, marketing, English or related undergrad degree desired.

• must be very familiar with the multitude of social media vehicles (especially Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Blogspot, etc) web content management systems (ideally WordPress), MSOffice, and graphic and video related software. 

• must HAPPILY engage in other duties as assigned including contributing to public affairs, communication, and special events, and general office tasks within the Dean’s Office.

• must be an organized, creative, critical thinker, in addition to being enrolled as a CUPPA grad student full-time through May 2023 or December 2023.


Primary duties for the Urban Forum may include: 

• assist on writing, planning, preparation, and implementation of the UIC Urban Forum.

• staff all meetings prior to and following the forum.

• attend the forum.

• assist staff on note-taking and summaries of all sessions at the forum.

• correspond with authors and presenters related to the forum and maintain various records.

• assist on forum communication materials under strict deadlines.

• assist with editing and writing contributions to the forum manuscript under the supervision of the Dean and published by the University of Illinois Press.

• other duties as assigned.
