Graduate Hourly - Website Development

 

SEEKING A GRADUATE HOURLY EMPLOYEE

 

Dr. Mirza in the Department of Occupational Therapy is seeking to hire a graduate hourly employee on a grant funded by the Social Science Research Council (SSRC).

 

Start Date & Length of Employment: 

The successful candidate will be hired at a graduate hourly position, starting September 15th, 2022. Continued employment after fall semester of 2022 is contingent on job performance and availability of funds.

 

Salary/Hours:

The position will entail approximately 5-10 hours of work per week. The duration of employment is contingent on project needs. The hourly minimum is $28.96.

 

Tuition waiver:

There is no tuition or fee waiver associated with this position.

 

Project Description:

We have been funded by the SSRC to develop a Research Area Mapping Platform (Research AMP). A Research AMP site is a public-facing platform that addresses a topic of contemporary public concern from an interdisciplinary perspective. Specifically, we are working on developing a website to curate research and translate scholarship for public consumption on the topic of refugees and their psychosocial, health, and community integration needs.

 

Job Description:

We are seeking an hourly research assistant who can assist with the following activities. Note that these tasks can be performed in hybrid format i.e. they may be performed remotely with occasional in-person presence in the lab.

  • Develop the wireframe of our website in accordance with Research-AMP guidelines
  • Populate the website with content developed by the research team (e.g. research reviews, commentaries, policy briefs)
  • Review and address accessibility features to ensure the website is accessible for users with disabilities
  • Record and interpret web engagement metrics (e.g. time on page, traffic sources etc.)

 

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a degree-seeking student at UIC
  • Experience with website development and management
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Familiarity with PressForward and Zotero a plus
  • Prior experience or interest in working on topics related to underserved communities and cultural minorities a plus

 

The student must be in good academic standing, and must successfully meet the requirements of the position.
