Planning Intern - Village of Hanover Park

Salary: $17.00 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY

The intern selected for this position will be assigned to the Department of Community Development. This Department is responsible for the economic development, the reviewing of plans relating to economic development and administering zoning and long range planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Village Planner with various projects and daily duties, including but not limited to:
  • Integration of Village and county data into GIS, including creation of new Zoning and TIF maps
  • Creation of marketing materials for TIF properties and Village economic development, particularly related to International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Conferences
  • Update website content and design to reflect current activities and available properties
  • Respond to resident and business inquiries related to zoning, available properties, and TIF incentives
  • Perform research and special projects as assigned, including site visits and photography

  • Preliminary review of sign, zoning, and building permits, as well as variance and special use applications
  • Scanning of files and other clerical duties as needed
  • Other duties as requested or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in progress in Urban Planning, or a related field; or one to two years related experience and/or training preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
