Student Trainee (Contracting) - General Services Administration (GSA) - Various Locations

Salary: $15.47 - $24.70 per hour

Work schedule: Full-time

To meet the Intern Program Requirements, applicants MUST BE: 1) Current juniors who have one full academic year remaining after June 2023 2) Have completed at least 2 full academic years (or associate degree) by June 30, 2022 3) Will be completing a bachelor’s degree between May-June 2024 4) Are able to work full-time from June 5, 2023 through August 11, 2023 5) Will commit to working part-time during the school year to complete all required hours before graduating in May/June 2024.

Duties: 

  • Contracting Trainee: The Contracting Trainee (1199 Series) is part of the Pathways Internship Program.
  • If you become an intern, you will be expected to help with a range of tasks and will be afforded the opportunity to learn the scope and foundation of GSA/PBS acquisition responsibilities, assisting contract specialists and management with day-to-day operations. Assignments are made with the objective of challenging your abilities and initiative, and to provide opportunities to display self-motivation. The ultimate goal is to give you a good overview of the organization and set you up for success if you are offered a permanent position after graduation.

Who We Are Looking For:  

Talented, motivated students who are looking to build their career at GSA, and who meet the following:

  1. Current juniors or graduate students,
  2. Will complete a bachelor’s degree or higher degree by June 2024
  3. Are able to work full-time from Monday, June 5 through Friday, August 11, 2023
  4. Will commit to working part-time during the school year, to complete all required hours before graduating in May/June 2024
  5. A U.S. Citizen (As a federal agency, all of our employees must be U.S. Citizens)

Qualifications 
Education 
In order to be placed in a permanent position after completing the Pathways Intern program, you must:
  1. Meet the qualification requirements for the position you are being placed in.
  2. Maintain an acceptable performance under GSA's approved performance management system.
  3. Receive a favorable recommendation from your supervisor at the end of the program.
  4. Meet all the training and development requirements outlined in the GSA Pathways policy.

GSA is not obligated to make an offer of permanent employment to you after you have completed the Program.
