Economic Development Research Assistantship - Great Cities Institute (closes Dec. 5)

Who: Great Cities Institute

What: UIC Great Cities Institute (GCI) is seeking a graduate student Research Assistant (RA) for the Spring 2019 semester whose primary responsibility will be to support GCI staff with economic development and related research projects.

For economic development research projects, the RA will assist with collection and analysis of data, writing technical reports, and producing graphics.

Duties for this role include:
  • Collaborate with GCI staff on research projects. 
  • Perform data collection, research and analysis.
  •  Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations. 
  • Produce graphics, charts, and other visuals for reports.
Required Qualifications: 
  • Strong quantitative skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  •  Interest in cities, urban planning, and economic development. 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop. 
  • Careful attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work well in team environment.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Enrolled in the Master’s program in Urban Planning and Policy, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS. 
  • Experience designing, editing, proofreading, and formatting a variety of publication materials. 
  • Experience with SPSS and Excel 
This position is an on-campus graduate student Research Assistantship (RA) with tuition waiver for 16 hours a week (40% appointment), and is renewable on a semester basis. The expected start date is January 2nd, 2019.
