Urban Planning Intern - Collins Engineers (Chicago)

Who: Collins Engineers is looking to hire for a part-time paid internship within the CDOT Project Coordination Office (PCO). The PCO’s mission is to relieve the burden on the citizens of Chicago by creating an environment in which stakeholders performing public and private construction can do so collaboratively, openly, efficiently, safely, and with minimal disruption to the public. The internship is an excellent opportunity to experience the planning process for Chicago's Transportation and Infrastructure projects.

What: Typical duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Compiles reports
  • Property checks other employee’s calculations
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Field work will be required
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Master of Urban Planning and Policy program in the Chicago area. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public. Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
