This intern supports the communication and marketing of the Center on Global Cities' research and reports, the virtual Pritzker Forum events, and other Global Cities programs.

The Chicago Council on Global Affairs drives dialogue on the rise and influence of global cities and how they shape our political, social, and economic lives. This includes examining the role of cities as actors and places in global governance, understanding the role of key stakeholders in shaping urban affairs, and exploring how arts and culture define and enrich global cities.

The Center on Global Cities contributes research, analysis, commentary, workshops, and other products that examine the policies cities need to be successful, identifies global best practices, connects leaders across geography and sectors, and provides actionable recommendations to decision-makers. One of the signature events of the Council is the Pritzker Forum on Global Cities, which convenes global leaders in business, civics, education, and the arts for a cross-sector dialogue on the influential role cities play in addressing critical global challenges, such as climate change, migration, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Conversations at the Forum explore urban challenges and solutions through the lenses of equity, governance, and resilience.

The Center team works together internally across multiple departments and centers of excellence, including the public programming and engagement center, communications teams, and corporate relations department to bring visibility to global cities and the issues surrounding them. The intern will work under the supervision of the Global Cities Officer, Center on Global Cities, and work closely with the Program Officer, Pritzker Forum on Global Cities.

The intern performs a variety of tasks, including supporting the Center team with:

• Social media outreach for disseminating research and promoting events; manage the monthly editorial calendar
• Develop and execute an audience development strategy
• Create promotional materials for the Pritzker Forum on Global Cities
• Design graphics to accompany reports and events
• Compile Center work for biannual report and support grant reports to foundations

 Qualifications

• Undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate student
• Background in communications, marketing, graphic design
• Demonstrated experience with graphic design and managing social media, video editing a plus
• Interest in urban studies, international affairs, or related discipline
• Ability to multi-task with quick turnaround times
• Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Airtable, Sprout Social, and database management is a plus
