This internship is virtual
The Chicago Council on Global Affairs drives dialogue on the rise and influence of global cities and how they shape our political, social, and economic lives. This includes examining the role of cities as actors and places in global governance, understanding the role of key stakeholders in shaping urban affairs, and exploring how arts and culture define and enrich global cities.
One of the signature events of the Council is the Pritzker Forum on Global Cities, which has been reconceptualized as a platform for yearlong conversations on the most pressing issues facing cities and urban life. The Forum convenes global leaders in business, civics, education, and the arts for a cross-sector dialogue on the influential role cities play in addressing critical global challenges, such as climate change, migration, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Conversations at the Forum explore urban challenges and solutions through the lenses of equity, governance, and resilience.
The Forum team works together internally across multiple departments and centers of excellence, including the public programming and engagement center, communications and corporate relations departments, and our research team to bring visibility to global cities and the issues surrounding them. This intern will work under the supervision of the Program Officer, Pritzker Forum on Global Cities.
The intern performs a variety of tasks, including supporting the Forum team with:
- Researching potential speakers and topics for Forum virtual events and Global Cities programs
- Writing and editing program announcements, speaker bios, panel briefings, and event debriefs
- Social media outreach of events and programs
- Analyzing audience and viewer data for event debriefs
- Updating and managing databases of speakers and partners
- Keeping abreast of global leadership changes and city news as they relate to the four pillars of urban life: business, civics, education, and the arts
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate student
- Demonstrated interest in urban studies, international affairs, or related discipline
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills
- Ability to multi-task with quick turnaround times
- Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Airtable, Sprout Social, and database management is a plus
- Experience with graphic design, video editing, and managing social media is a plus
