Management Intern Village of Roselle, Illinois

Department: Administration, Community Development, and Finance
Title: Management Intern

Overview: The position will work on various assignments within the
Administration, Community Development, and Finance Departments to provide
the Management Intern with experience and on the job training for higher level
responsibilities related to municipal operations, while learning valuable work
skills. The Administration, Community Development, and Finance Departments
are located in the Village Hall. Fire, Police, and Public Works Departments are
located in separate municipal facilities within the community. The Management
Intern will be assigned tasks by the three (3) departments located in Village Hall.
The core functions of Village Hall operations include:
  • Planning & Zoning
  • Building & Permitting
  • Economic Development
  • Code Enforcement
  • Utility Billing
  • Information Technology
  • Annual Budget Preparation
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable & Invoice Processing
  • Human Resources
  • Village Board Agenda Preparation
  • Mayor’s Office
  • Community Relations
The Management Intern will be assigned to a variety of tasks and projects that
may include:
  • Tasks associated with implementation of the Strategic Plan adopted by the Village Board in 2022.
  • Preparing reports and analysis for presentation to Management staff and the Village Board.
  • Research, data collection, and analysis.
  • Providing customer service and assistance at the front counter in the Community Development and Finance Departments.
  • General office work, including filing, data entry, and phone calls.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Assistant Village Administrator.
Hours of Work: The work schedule is flexible, with primary office hours between
8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and will be expected to work
approximately 20 hours per week. The Intern will work under the immediate
supervision of the Assistant Village Administrator, with indirect supervision
exercised by the Community Development Manager and Finance Director. The
Intern may work with other Village Departments (Fire, Police, and Public Works)
on a project basis. Occasional evening public meeting attendance is expected.

Pay: Internship will pay $17.00 per hour and is not eligible for any additional
benefits.

Qualifications: To be considered for an internship, candidates must be enrolled
in graduate or undergraduate college courses in public administration, urban
planning, finance, economic development, or other closely related field.
Additional requirements include:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public
  • Excellent research, writing, and public communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of direct supervision
