Volunteer Research Assistant (Transportation) - Metropolitan Planning Council

Who: Metropolitan Planning Council - Transportation Team

What: The MPC transportation team is currently looking for a Research Assistant (RA) for Summer 2018, possibly continuing into the fall. This position will include support on a range of technical analyses, stakeholder coordination, and advocacy oriented projects. Responsibilities will include: conduct technical research, conduct literature reviews, document meetings, conduct data analysis in Excel, develop GIS maps, prepare for and participate in meetings.
RAs play an important role at MPC, offering essential support for projects, working with staff on a daily basis, attending meetings, and learning about how urban planning and policy works in the real world. Please note that this is an unpaid position.

Qualifications: Candidates with good analytical and research skills who are interested in and knowledgeable about transportation issues in Northeast Illinois. Required skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Powerpoint and Excel), good interpersonal skills, strong organization. Proficiency in GIS is preferred but not required.
