Graduate Assistant for Social Media - UIC Business

Who: UIC Business

What: UIC Business  is looking for a talented social media assistant [50% assistantship with waiver] to draft and maintain a strong online presence for the college. The role is to implement online marketing strategies through social media accounts. If you are tech-savvy with an interest in communicating through online channels, we would like to meet you. As a social media assistant, you will gather relevant content from stakeholders throughout the college and represent the voice of the college to all constituents. You will also develop original content and suggest creative ways to attract more followers and promote our brand. Ultimately, you should be able to increase web traffic and community engagement metrics aligned with broader marketing strategies. Responsibilities include:
  • Attend college events to create engaging text, image and video content;
  • Design posts to sustain readers' curiosity and create buzz around UIC Business news;
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness;
  • Facilitate online conversations with community and respond to queries;
  • Research audience preferences and discover current trends;
  • Measure web traffic and monitor SEO;
  • Suggest new ways to attract prospective followers;
  • Report on online reviews and feedback from community;
  • Follow optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics. 
Qualifications:
  • Must be a student in good standing at UIC
  • Exceptional creative and business writing skills
  • Excellent grammar and spelling
  • Close attention to detail
  • Proven work experience on social media
  • Expertise in multiple social media platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
  • Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels
  • Ability to gasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 
Multitasking and analytical skills
  • Photography skills are a plus
