Specifically, the Chicago office has identified four priority program areas. These are: equitable transit-oriented development, sustainability and resiliency, health and housing, and preservation of naturally occurring affordable housing. The internship will focus on one or more projects or support with grant management related to these four priority areas along with assisting in other office activities as needed.
What: This internship is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining experience related to affordable housing and community development. The schedule is two to three day per week for approximately 14-20 hrs. per week. The tenure for this internship is from March 2019 through July 2019 with the opportunity to be extended beyond this timeframe. Pay range: $15 – $17/hour.
Job responsibilities include:
- Researching public and private information resources
- Liaison with community partners, residents and other stakeholders
- Providing logistical support to complete assigned tasks
- Oral and written presentation of findings
- Undergraduate or Graduate student in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or related fields. Graduate students are strongly preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, team-oriented and independent atmospheres
- Understanding of community development issues
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce preferred
- Strong interest and commitment to community development with personal and lived experiences preferred.

- Commitment to diversity, racial equity and inclusion
