Teaching Assistant - ACCC Learning Technology Solutions (CLOSES 3/22)

Who: The mission of ACCC Learning Technology Solutions (LTS) is to empower faculty to design and deliver technology-enhanced education. LTS provides a number of services including professional development, course development, instructional technology support, and design services. In addition, we offer individual and group consultations on instructional design principles and the integration of technology into teaching.
LTS is looking for motivated, hard-working graduate students to provide multimedia production and tech support to UIC Faculty and Students.

What: The position is for 20 hours per week effective May 21, 2019 with potential for renewal on semester basis through graduation of the employee.
The Teaching Assistant will assist in the development, administration, and oversight of many of the aforementioned programs and services. Additionally, they will:

  • Greet instructors and assist in the reception area; answer phones as needed. 
  • Process equipment checkouts/returns utilizing the WebCheckout system. 
  • Ensure all equipment in the checkout pool is in working order and all items are accounted for. 
  • Provide training to students, faculty, and staff on the use of the multimedia equipment available for checkout. 
  • Provide training to students, faculty, and staff on the use of the installed multimedia software provided on the Lab workstations and Multimedia laptops available for checkout. 
  • Monitor and respond to the Support and Multimedia Production queues in Request Tracker (RT). 
  • Assist clients with media conversion/duplication. 
  • Create multimedia assets for the Instructional Design team. 
  • Assist with the creation, coordination, and dissemination of documentation related to instructional technologies, including, but not limited to: Blackboard Learn, Panopto, iClickers, Echo360, and other 3rd party tools. 
  • Assist in the creation of instructor and student tutorials of new instructional technologies. 
  • Assist in designing, promoting, scheduling and delivering training seminars and webinars that support blended, online, and “flipped” classrooms. Seminars include the use of content management systems, lecture capture, discussion boards, and other online collaboration tools. 
  •  Facilitate recordings in the Lightboard studio as needed. 
  • Assist on Event Support events as needed. 
  • Assist with video editing, graphic creation and animation for various course related and Event Support projects. 
  • Perform other related duties and assist the management team in special projects as assigned. 
Qualifications: Candidate must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in a graduate program (e.g., BVIS, Graphic Design, Marketing, or other related field preferred) with:
  •  A cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. 
  • An in-depth knowledge of: o Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint 
    • Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Adobe Captivate 
    • Camtasia Studio Preferred Skills 
  • Multimedia production (including graphics, audio, and video) 
  • Punctuality, reliability, and consistency 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills 
  • Public speaking skills 
  • Experience using one or more of the following: online survey and assessment tools, statistical analysis software and/or learning management systems 
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and to conduct oneself in a highly professional and ethical manner 
  • Ability to track and manage complex and multiple projects 
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing 
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule, and meet deadlines
