Role Description

The Student Communications Aide will be assigned to assist with GSC day-to-day administration, programs, and services. We are seeking a friendly, informative student who can welcome newcomers, tell them about our programs, and help coordinate events. This role is a great opportunity to learn about the functions of an identity based cultural center and is ideal for someone looking to do work in a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual+ (LGBTQIA+) space with an interest in gender and sexuality issues and scholarship with prior knowledge of LGBTQIA+ identities. Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color are highly encouraged to apply.
 
This position has an anticipated start date of August 22, 2022 and continues on for the 2022 - 2023 academic year (August 2022- May 2023). You will need to be an undergraduate student enrolled for credit maintaining at least six credit hours in Fall 2022. This position requires Federal Work Study (FWS).

Under the supervision of the assistant director and director, the Student Communications Aide performs the following:

  • Sharing and creating content on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Compiling and sending GSC newsletters
  • Assist with the coordination of GSC events
  • Tabling in-person and/or remotely
  • Provide customer service and respond to general inquiries in-person and via phone and e-mail.
  • Perform other general office support tasks 

We expect these positions to require approximately 5-10 hours per week. These positions start at $14.00/hour and Federal Work-Study (FWS) is REQUIRED. Revise your FAFSA or contact Financial Aid to request work-study. Position must be candidate’s only Federal Work Study position for the duration of the job.
