Graduate Assistant - UIC Women's Leadership and Resource Center (WLRC)

Graduate Assistantship (2022-2023Academic Year)

The UIC Women’s Leadership and Resource Center (WLRC),seeks a UIC graduate student to provide programmatic and organizational support for the 2022-2032 academic year. This position is offered at 0.25 FTE and includes a tuition waiver.

Job Duties 

•Help develop and implement the center’s programs and events, including, but not limited to, student leadership development programs, lecture and film series, workshops and trainings, and awareness month events. 

•Work with staff to research and develop program, training, and resource materials; raise awareness of the center; and shape and implement new initiatives. 

•Daily administrative tasks may include answering phones; preparing for and staffing programs/events onsite and online; communication; event promotion; and managing programming space and data (registration lists, photos, videos).

•Participate in biweekly (once every two weeks) staff team meetings and weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor. 

Reporting Structure 

The Graduate Assistant will report to the Associate Director, with the opportunity to work with various professional and student staff members on different projects. 

Qualifications 

Ideal candidates must be in good academic standing and 

•Have background, knowledge, and experience with feminist approaches to social policy, social justice, and building inclusive communities and organizations. 

•Have experience or interest in working in higher education contexts, particularly with campus-based programs or units that engage diverse constituencies (e.g., students of color, LGBTQ students, students with disabilities, parents, undocumented students, etc.). 

•Have research experience, including drafting reports and developing resource materials, and/or experience with teaching, curriculum development, and facilitation. 

•Be interested in building the capacity of this campus-based feminist center to contribute to a more equitable and inclusive university community. 

Hours/Days

10hours per week. May work partially remote and partially onsite, depending on both the student’s and department’s needs (can be discussed during interview).
