Summer Intern 2024 - Alvin H. Baum Family Fund

Position: Intern
Pay: $15-20/hour
Type: In person, 30 hours/week

The Alvin H. Baum Family Fund (https://baumfund.org/) is seeking a paid intern who will be a promising undergraduate student with an interest in philanthropy and the not-for-profit world.  During this internship, you will primarily do a deep dive in our files which will allow you to learn about the organizations we support as well as the Baum Fund’s history with each organization.
Find full description and application here.
To be clear, the day-to-day work will be largely administrative, and performing these administrative tasks with complete accuracy is the focus of this internship.  However, in the course of your work, you will have access to substantive materials that you will organize and preserve.  We hope you will be thinking about the grantee organizations whose materials you will be working with.  You will have daily interactions with the Baum Fund’s executive director, with whom you will be able to discuss what you are learning about if you are interested in doing this.

We expect the intern to depart with a widened perspective on societal challenges in various sectors. We believe the intern will be better equipped to pursue meaningful careers that align with their passions and the Baum Fund’s mission to ignite new ideas and promote solutions to ensure healthier, more equitable, and peaceful communities across Chicagoland.

In order to be successful in this intern role, you should possess:
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of professionalism
  • High level of organization
  • Critical thinking skills and good judgement
  • Humility and gratitude
  • Strong writing skills are also a plus
We are located in Deerfield, Illinois about a mile west of downtown Deerfield/the Deerfield Metra station.  All work will be done on site at our office.
While the approximate dates of work are June 3 - August 9, we are somewhat flexible with start/end dates with the ideal amount of time worked being approximately 10 weeks.
We expect the intern to work about 30 hours per week, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday.
