Who: The Air & Waste Management Association offers scholarships to graduate students who are pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste management, environmental management/policy/law, and sustainability.
What: The scholarships offer support for one year. Scholarships awarded annually in the following areas: air quality research and study, waste management research and study, environmental management or policy research and study, sustainability research and study. In the past, awards have ranged from $1,500-3,500.
Qualifications: Applicants must be full-time graduate students during the fellowship year. Must be pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste management, environmental management/policy/law, and/or sustainability.

Transportation & Bicycle Safety Intern - Village of Schaumburg
Who: The Village of Schaumburg employs approximately 600 employees in a variety of departments within the organization, such as police, fire, public works, engineering, finance, human resources, cultural services, community development, information technology, and transportation. We are hiring up to 3 summer interns. The position is looking for undergraduate students (graduate students may be considered) in the field of Political Science, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or any other closely related field. Candidates will be exposed to many different aspects of a Transportation Department (Planning, Engineering, Transit, Public Education). Exact job duties would be tailored to match desired career path and current Department Projects. Also, note that the interns will spend a lot of time outdoors (regardless of Temperature) and bicycling on bicycle facilities of varying levels of comfort. There will also be a lot of interaction with the public (all ages).
This position mainly assumes the responsibility of educating the community on bicycle safety, promoting the 90 miles of bikeways, and evaluating the bike path and bike lanes for maintenance and repairs. Additional tasks include traffic related activities such as traffic counts, traffic studies and bicycle, pedestrian, and transit related work.
The position is for the summer months from the middle of May through the middle of August and is based on a 35-hour work week that generally consists of Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Flexibility in the scheduling is required to account for staffing at other various events over the summer including some weekend and evening hours.

Who: African American Studies is seeking a graduate student to TA for AAST 100: Introduction to African American Studies for the Spring 2019 semester.
What: Teaching assistants will be responsible for performing teaching or teaching-related duties to assist faculty members.
