Background

As a community foundation with over a century of experience addressing the region’s most pressing needs, the Trust serves as a trusted partner to individuals, families, businesses, and fellow funders striving to build a stronger Chicago region, country, and world. The Trust is committed to reflecting on the impact of our actions and to revising and deepening our impact through data-driven decision making.

The Opportunity

The Learning and Impact team works with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the use of data to inform decision making and measure impact towards the Trust’s strategic goal of closing the racial and ethnic wealth gap. The L&I intern will help to refine the measurement framework, expand the literature base that informs the work of the Trust, analyze secondary datasets, and conduct interviews and focus groups to understand community perceptions of progress. The internship also provides the opportunity for the intern to explore areas of interest around the Trust’s strategic priorities and to complete a project that deepens understanding of how that area of interest contributes to the Trust’s approach to impact measurement.

Our Approach

The L&I team works to ensure that all voices are represented in our impact reporting and to share our findings in an accessible manner with all stakeholders. We are committed to learning what is working and where there are opportunities to improve and to providing timely and actionable insights to guide future iterations of the Trust actions.
